Trusting in Truth
One of the most difficult things to do as humans is to fully trust something to someone. We have an inherent desire to be in control, to make our own plans and our own decisions. All throughout scripture God calls out to us to trust in Him and in Him only.
These words of truth from King Solomon bears this out, as found in Proverbs 3:5-8,13 “ Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; v6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. v7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. v8 It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones. v13 Happy(joyful) is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gains understanding.”
Romans 11:33-36 “ Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God ! How unsearchable are His judgements and His ways past finding out ! v34 For who has known the mind of the Lord ? Or who has become His counselor ? v35 Or who has given a gift to Him, to receive a gift in return ? v36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen” (see also Isaiah 40:13,14; Jer. 23:18; Job 36:22,23)
Are there situations in your life causing you[us] to doubt God - is it fear of the future – have dreams or goals not been met ? Have you lost a loved one or facing financial difficulty ? Our heavenly Father is omniscient, sovereign, loving and cares deeply for our well being. We[you,I] have every reason to trust Him regardless of our circumstances. If you have faith and do not doubt – It will be done- and whatever things you ask in prayer, believing you will receive as Jesus said to us in Matt. 21:21,22
Only God knows the future and the details of every situation, along with the best possible plan for our lives. Jeremiah 29:11 “ For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” NIV This truth does not mean that we will not face trials in our lives or gain material possessions but it was a promise of peace and nourishment for our spiritual wellbeing.
God is infinitely wise(omniscient) - God is sovereign - and God is in control over all things(events) His knowledge is far beyond our comprehension. We can trust in God’s faithful promises. He is in control and perfectly working all things for our good with unfailing love. Rom. 8:28 “ And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who have been called according to His purpose. “
His knowledge is perfect and pure. His love, knowledge, truth and wisdom far exceed any human understanding. No matter what we face today, God will get us through it.
“Nothing can separate us from the divine Love God has for us.” - Rom. 8:31-39 “ Do not let your heart’s be troubled, nor let them be afraid.” John 14:27
1 John 4:18,19 " There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us."
1 John 3:18 “ Let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. v19 and by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. v20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. v21 If our heart does not condemn , we have confidence toward God. v22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things which are pleasing in His sight.”
1 John 4:4 “ Greater is He who lives in you, than he who lives in this world.”
It is all a matter of the heart and allowing God to firmly plant His seeds of truth, peace, love and joy into your heart. Incredible, astonishing and exhilarating are words that pale to describe how a life filled with Christ truly is. Accepting and acknowledging who God is and what He does for us on a daily basis is the first step in learning how to trust completely in all of God’s faithful promises.
Christ Jesus assures us that trusting in Him, we will experience a peace, a joy, and a calm unlike anything you can ever imagine. Be always encouraged and find comfort in His words in John 14:6 “ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father, except through Me.”
Also, embed this truth into your heart, mind and soul when Jesus tells us in John 8:32 “ Know the truth and the truth will set you free.”
Start today – Don’t delay and change your life - Let the power of God’s words speak to you and be filled with a peace and joy beyond measure.
