True Worship
2 Corinthians 5:7 “We walk by faith, not by sight.”
Romans 1:17 “The just shall live by faith”
True worship is praising God for who He is and what He does for us on a daily basis. It’s reflecting on His Greatness – His Goodness and His Grace. It is meditating on His inconceivable Power and Strength. Its acknowledging that God Almighty is our Creator, our Sustainer, and our Redeemer. God is the Alpha and the Omega – The Beginning and the End. Without Him there is NOTHING which means, without Him WE ARE NOTHING.
The LORD HAS NO EQUAL THERE IS NONE LIKE HIM. " Who else has held the oceans in his hand ? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers ? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale ? Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord ? Who knows enough to give Him advice or teach Him ? (emphasis mine) Isaiah 40:12-13 NLT
Isaiah 40:14-17 “Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice ? Does He need instruction about what is good ? Did anyone teach Him what is right or show Him the path of justice ? NO, for all the nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket. They are nothing more than dust on the scales. He picks up the earth as though it were a grain of sand.” (emphasis mine) NLT
True worshippers will worship God in Spirit and in truth as evidenced by what Jesus said in John 4:24 “God Is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
Matthew 4:10 “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.” NKJV
Prior to that Jesus told the Samaritan woman in John 4:14 “ Whoever drinks of the water that I will give them will never thirst. But the water that I will give him will become a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” NKJV
Matthew 4:4 “ Man cannot live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. “
“ I am the bread of life, whoever comes to Me shall never hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst.” As spoken directly from Jesus Himself in John 6:35
Unbelief(lack of faith) blinds people to the truth and robs them of both hope, peace and joy. Just as the story of a Father who had a son with seizures asked Jesus to heal his son, and Jesus replied by saying to the father “ If you can believe all things are possible to him who believes “ Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears and said ‘ Lord, I believe; Help my unbelief ’ - Mark 9:23,24
Worshipping and growing in faith is a constant process of daily renewing our trust in Jesus Christ through prayer and reading of the Holy Scripture.
1 Corinthians 2:5 “Your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the POWER of God.” 1 Corinthians 3:19 “ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.” (emphasis mine)
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been given to us by God. These things we speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. For who has known the mind of the Lord that He may instruct Him ? BUT we(you, I) have the mind of CHRIST. (emphasis mine) 1 Corinthians 2:12-16
Victory over sin and temptation comes through faith in Christ Jesus. Not through our own efforts. - 1 John 5:4 As true followers of Christ our reward is God’s presence and power through the Holy Spirit.
“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done with love.” 1 Corinthians 16:13,14
