The simplicity of God’s message is astounding, what is complicated is how we as humans complicate it.  Spend time daily from John 13:34 through John 15:27 over the next fourteen days and you will be amazed at how these two chapters will fill you with all of God’s fullness of love, truth, grace and peace.

Just allow these verses to soak in to every fiber of your being and discover for yourself what Jesus Christ meant when He said to us earlier in John 8:31,32  “ If you ABIDE IN MY WORD , you are truly my disciples, and you will    KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.”  (emphasis mine)

It is not our truth or how we define it -  but God’s truth -  only way to know His truth is to read it, study it and pray about it.  

 It’s that simple my friends !

Jesus says to His disciples who were sharing in Christ’s last supper in John 13:34 “ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another:  just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another.”   Then Jesus had a dialogue with Simon Peter and said to him “ Will you lay down your life for Me ?  now Peter said yes I will lay down my life for you to which Jesus says “Truly, truly, I say to you, the rooster will not crow till you have denied Me three times.” - John 13:38      JUST LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU 

                  Let not your hearts be troubled.  Believe in God;  believe in Me !  John 14:1  (emphasis mine)

In v5 Thomas asked How can we know the way?   when Jesus had just told them He is going to prepare a place for them and you know the way to where I am going.  So then Jesus’ response to Thomas is;

John 14:6  “ I am the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE, No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (emphasis mine)

Perhaps the most profound verse in all of scripture that captures the essence of who Christ is, what He  wants us to know, and how we are to live.

JESUS CHRIST  is our ONLY WAY to salvation – there is no other way ;  He is the ONLY TRUTH – there is no other truth -  and He is the ONLY ONE WHO GIVES LIFE  – there is no other life or living without Him. 

       We BELONG to God - we are not our own person - WE EXIST because God makes it so. 

                      It is so very simple my friends !                         

Then Philip, says to Jesus in v8  “ show us the Father, and it is enough for us”  to which Jesus responds “Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me ?  The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in Me does His works.” 

It is the Holy Spirit that does the work within us, we play no part.  Our only response is to love Him-Revere Him- Praise Him- Thank Him- Obey Him in everything that we do. 

John 14:15  Jesus says “ If you love Me, keep my commandments, and I will pray the Father and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive , because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be with you.”

When the Spirit of truth dwells within your heart and you love God with all your heart, with all your mind and all your soul then you already know that we are nothing living apart from Him. 

“ Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  John 14:27    Not only is Jesus Christ – the way - the truth – and the life but He fills us (you,I) with great peace, love, comfort and hope beyond what we can ever imagine. 

     It is all so very simple my friends !

Now read all of John 15 and continue to let those verses encourage and enlighten your eyes to a deeper understanding of what it means to be firmly attached to the One True Vine.
