Love - The Key to Life
There is no greater or more powerful four-letter word found anywhere throughout the world than the word LOVE. The source of this all-powerful feeling is God the Father Almighty and is the essence of His supreme being. 1 John 4:8: “He who does not love does not know God, for GOD IS LOVE.” (emphasis mine)
Perhaps the greatest verse in all of scripture is spoken by Jesus Christ Himself as found in John 3:16 “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whomever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” How often do you truly think about this verse ? So many of us know this verse but don’t spend time allowing it to penetrate every fiber of our being. Has God’s love filled your heart today and everyday for that matter?
God sacrificed His Son, spilled His blood, nailed to a cross, so that we(you,I) could be saved from sin and the evil ways of this world. That is divine love, light years away from human understanding. For as a parent it is inconceivable and incomprehensible how any of us could perform or allow such an act on one of our children.
Jesus Christ not only commanded us to love him with all our heart, mind and soul as found in Matthew 22:37-40 but to love our neighbors as yourself(ourselves) This outpouring of God’s love to our neighbors is also expressed as the golden rule “ Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you.” as found in Matt.7:12
There is no greater LOVE in all the planet as Jesus tells us in John 15:10 -14 “When you obey My commandments, you remain in My love, just as I obey My Fathers commandments and remain in His love. v11 I have told you these things so that you may be filled with My joy. Yes, your joy will overflow v12 This is My commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. v13 “ There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are My friends if you do what I command.” (emphasis mine) NLT
True followers of Christ not only know this divine love but live it daily and understand that obedience to God’s commandments is the natural result of God loving us and we loving Him. We also know that living in God’s presence fills our hearts with indescribable joy, love, and peace.
There are many great verses found that speak of God’s love and one of the best places that define it is found in Corinthians 13:4-7,13 “ Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. v5 It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. v6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. v7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. v13 Three things will last forever – FAITH – HOPE – LOVE and the greatest of these is LOVE. NLT (emphasis mine) His Love never fails.
My friends, if you are like me it challenges us to truly examine ourselves and look at areas of our life that we can work on. Are you patient, kind, humble or proud, do you envy and covet, are you irritable or demanding in getting your own way, do you harbor resentment, do you easily forgive others, do you seek the truth, do you give up easily, are you always hopeful, can you endure hardships during trials in your life, are you faithful or sometimes filled with fear, worry, doubts.
If your like most , we all struggle with these things in our lives - its all part of life and living. We deceive ourselves if we begin to think we have all of this perfected with our thoughts, behaviors and attitudes. We are too weak as humans to handle these things and only through the power of God's love and strength can we make changes within our inner being that bring about true peace, joy and love.
God’s divine passion and desire is to fill our hearts and all humankind with His LOVE so that all can live peacefully and in harmony with one another. His faithful promises, His acceptance, His will, and His ways are given to us through scripture and promises an everlasting life with Him.
Be always mindful of who God is as found in John 14:6 “ I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Start today – Don’t delay and change your life - Let the power of God’s words speak to you and be filled with a peace and joy beyond measure.
