Reasons the World has Hated Jesus Christ Without Cause
The four most condemning verses of scripture that many people reject, despise, and refuse to accept are found in these words of truth spoken by Jesus Christ. These apply not only to believers but to unbelievers as well.
We find these words as written in 1 Samuel 19:5 “Why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?” Psalms 35:19; 69:4; 109:3-5. “They hate me without cause” “fought against me without cause” “ in return for my love, they attack me” “ they have repaid me evil for good, and hatred for my love” Jesus Christ in John 15:25 says to His disciples “ They hated me without cause.“ Here then are those verses that many people reject and refuse to accept and the reasons the World has Hated Jesus Christ without cause. Here are the very words of truth spoken by Jesus Christ
The first truth is plainly spoke by Jesus in John 3:19-20 “ 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light[Jesus Christ] has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.” People love their sins. They see the light as bondage that limits their freedom to pursue and express themselves and live according to what they think is good, right and true.
The entirety of Christ’s ministry was hostile from beginning to end. Jesus’ teaching was and is contrary to what the world values and what their priorities were and still are today. Where, who or what are your priorities and what do you value most ? Are you living according to what you think is right and despising, rejecting and disregarding what Christ is saying about your sinfulness ? [see Where Are Your Priorites]
Jesus Christ when speaking to the Pharisees and others listening said his second profound truth as found in John 8:42-47 “If God were your Father, you would love Me, 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
The third truth that most all people struggle with, myself included, is spoken by Jesus in Matthew 10:37-39 37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”
This verse cuts to the heart of what people love the most in this world – their families and themselves. Plainly Jesus is telling us to set Him above anything or anyone else in this world and to be in the center of our lives. God’s greatest desire is for us to be in a loving, intimate relationship with Him just like we have with our families. Understand that God loves your spouse and your children far more than you do. Grasp this and you will discover that loving Him more allows your love for your family to grow stronger. All other relationships will also be improved - friends, co-workers, bosses, neighbors etc.
This also cuts to the heart and is the fourth profound truth spoken by Jesus in 1 John 2:15-18 “ Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”
Does the love of the world take first place in your life ? Does the love of the world choke out your love of God ? Where are you at my friends or does God not have any place in your heart and mind ? This is where I spent most of my life being totally separated and living according to what the world had to offer. I was foolish and ignorant, totally lost and blinded by the truth. The love of the Father was not in me- I lived in the darkness – My father was the evil one Satan- I pursed the lust of my eyes, the lust of my flesh and the pride of life. I lived according to my will and my ways, with total disregard to the loving will and ways of God our Savior Jesus Christ.
My friends, Jesus Christ did not shed His blood and die for us because we are good or do good deeds. He died and shed His blood for us because we are sinners in need of a savior. We are stubborn, rebellious, and disobedient people with an inherent desire to sin. We also know that the wages or penalty of sin is death which is the righteous judgement of God. If we have not repented asking for forgiveness, have no genuine saving faith nor loved or obeyed His commandments, then eternal separation and condemnation from God will be the result.
Additional verses to ponder, study and meditate on for allowing God to speak to you so that you can turn toward God and His loving ways
John 10:27-28 “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow Me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Christ also said in John 6:44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day”.
John 14:15-17 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”
John 14:21 “21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest[reveal] Myself to him.”
John 8:12 “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.”
John 8:31-34 “ 32 know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” The Pharisees said we are already free and have not been in bondage to anyone. Thus Jesus answered them in verse 34“Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.”
The Apostle Paul speaks this truth as found in Romans 6:16 “ Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?”
Are you a slave to the lusts, desires and pleasures of this world which leads to death or are you a slave to righteousness of Jesus Christ leading to life ? Now using the word slave can be offensive to many so use the word servant instead.
The Pharisees were so blind to the truth, pious and self-righteous that they had no clue what sin even was. They also in their pride, corruption and arrogance thought they were already saved by following the Levitical laws to the letter, so had no need of being saved from Jesus Christ the Messiah. Apparently and obviously they never read Isaiah 7:7; 9:6-7 or chapter 53 but then again nor have many today.
In John 8:32 when the Pharisees said “we are already free and have not been in bondage to anyone” This statement is what many people say today. We are free to choose all the pleasures of this world and what it has to offer. We are already free we aren’t in bondage to anyone or in any need of a savior. We choose to do as we please with our bodies and minds. We are free from any restrictions – free from the bondage of the Bible – free from any sexual taboos- free to worship any god of our choosing including No God at all. What Christians see as being set free from our sins and saved - the world sees as being held in chains to the restrictions and bondage to God.
People love darkness and the pleasures of sin so have no desire or need to live in the light or in the authority or truth found in the Bible.
The whole world lies under the sway[power of the wicked[evil] one as found in 1 John 5:19. Sin holds us captive to obey in its lusts, pleasures and desires and comes from the father of deceit, lies and corruption[Satan].
Hebrews 3:7b,8,15 “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion.
Matthew 6:21-23 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 (B)“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is [a]good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is [b]bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! [ Refer back to the first truth in John 3:19-20]
Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal[devoted] to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money..
