Forgetfulness
We are all creatures of habit and routines that don’t require any thought whatsoever, we just do what we always do, its just automatic. Then we have all those other things in our daily lives that unless we write them down we will forget about them. Appointment books, planners, to do lists, shopping lists, and activities calendars etc.
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
― Benjamin Franklin
We go to church and hear scripture and perhaps a powerful message as spoken during the service and are filled with joy. Then, if we are like most people, the moment we walk out the door 99.9% of what was said will be lost, if we don’t write it down. Then by the end of the day, all will be forgotten.
Here are two verses to ponder and think about this week on how forgetful we truly are !!
Proverbs 4: 20-23 “ My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it springs the issues of life.”
Truly sound wisdom for all of us; 1. Pay attention 2. Truly listen. 3. Read them 4. Write them down 5. Memorize them. 6. Be persistent 7. Will lead you to the real issues in your life and what truly matters.
Isaiah 55: 10-12 “ For as the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud. That it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. For you shall go out with joy and be led out with peace.
We must never forget: It is God Almighty who sustains us and who provides for us on a daily basis !!
Since the very beginning of time God created all living things to reproduce (plants trees, fish and animals) and continually provide two essential things in our Lives. Food and Water for our daily physical nourishment; Scripture and Prayer to provide our daily spiritual nourishment.
