Be Strong and Have Courage
Some of the greatest words of wisdom can be found in the book of 1 Chronicles. King David was giving His son Solomon, who was chosen by God to be his successor, these profound words of encouragement. These words are as relevant today as they were 3000 years ago. And yet, here we are today with few fathers giving their sons/daughters this immeasurable piece of priceless advice.
Regrettable, it was something I failed to do for my son, daughter or friends. BUT I am willing to bet that most of us have not heard this priceless instruction during our lifetime. Or if we did we certainly did not listen to it or take it seriously.
Here is what King David says to his son in 1 Chronicles 28:9,10 “ As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever. v10 Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong, and do it.”
Let this sink deeply into every fiber of your inner being and pass it on to everyone you know who will listen to these powerful words. Son,(daughter, sisters, brothers, husband, wife, friends) – Know God – Serve God – with a Loyal Heart – a Willing Mind - because the Lord Searches ALL HEARTS and Understands ALL THOUGHTS – Seek Him – You will find Him - BE STRONG AND DO IT !!
We then find these profound words of wisdom in 1 Chronicles 28:20 “ Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God – my God – will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.” Be Strong – Have Courage – Just Do It – Do not fear – Nor be dismayed – I Will Be With You – I Will Not Leave You – I Will Not Forsake You. (See also 1 Samuel 12:24; Deut. 31:6; Joshua 10:25; Isaiah 41:10; Jeremiah 9:24; Matt. 28:20)
Fear, doubt, and uncertainty grip us all at one time or another in our lives. God never promised us that this lifetime would be free of troubles, but He did promise us that He would be with us and would not leave us whenever struggles come our way. Remember these words, and be encouraged by the love, truth and wisdom found in them.
